Welcome!

Dearest Jersey Natives and Recent Transplants,

Since our inception in February, we’ve had a chance grow with the help of our staff, our audience and our various inspirations. We now have more than a dozen writers scouring our part of the state for “culinary delights for the rest of us” — those who enjoy rich, delicious food but are still paying off student loans or insane rent (sometimes both), and like the idea of getting full or drunk on less than $50 a pop. Not that we don’t ever go to the hoity-toity locales, especially if someone else is treating, but why limit yourself to one night on the town per month instead of every week, just so you can say you ate someplace where the waiters wear tuxedos?

But, GoOutJersey is more than just the working man’s (i.e., college grad’s) Zagat’s. We’ve got opinions, too. I’m not sure if it’s because our formative years were during the upswing of the “Me” generation, or because we live in a country where there are more choices for American Idol than for the presidency – but the Jersey in us forces our loud-mouthed opinions out. So, we’ve got more columns, “thoughts of the day”, and general bloggy-ness coming your way (here’s a recent example). Also be sure to check back for Click This!, our recommended link of the day, which will send you to blogs or sites with Jersey news, Jersey-related info, or “going out”-related fun and advice.

We also have devised our very own rating system that will be applied to all future (and, slowly, all previous) reviews. Check it out. You may also notice our new logo (look up!), which is still in the developing stages.
